Stockholm

Sometimes you need to charge your battery, maybe in the apartment your mom and dad cooked for you, or in the fields where you were riding horses in full speed. Jumping on the trampoline with your best friend, eating food with your hands! Remember the time when you sang along to the Spicegirls song, or bullied your brother until you laughed and coughed at the same time?
I'm here at this place but I'm gonna leave it in about one day, leave the safety, do more and explore.

A Journey

NY
A party in NYC where it was all about paint, having fun, re-painting, cover other's work, collaborate, dance to the jazztones, where a naked girl preformed. Sing along, and just have fun, open up your creativity in the public space, share, be and don't care!

(The painting above just developed during a couple of seconds. I took the graffiti spray and just did, then in hindsight it might have been inspired by the naked singer.)

Madrid
Then I flew over to Madrid for the Mango show, did my fitting, had half of a day, went to the Museo Nacional Del Prado.
The painting of Hans Baldung Grien "The Three Ages of Man and Death" captured me, because I referred to our generation, the middle year paranoia, where the ideal is to be young. The mentality is: if you are not young, you can't have fun.

Stockholm
Left Madrid, to continue my trip to Stockholm. During the plane ride I was bored of movies and books, could not focus, instead I start to let my hand speak, did 14 sketches of bodies. Came home to see my lovely mom, and my town, then I made this painting of bodies.

Three different cities, and three different experiences, made my week complete.

Marina Abramovic At The MOMA

I went there all alone without knowing anyone. People around me were complete strangers, relaxed and focused. I turned my eyes towards the square, and the two individuals who were sitting there. In front of each other, combining the air into magic. The energy of emotions fill the room with a boom. Also, the surrounding sounds from people bounce - completing the reality of the present.

I mean, what I see is a beautiful of reality as a whole. I see people's fear come up to the square, released and determined to turn it around to its narrow ground! The surface changes on each person like a waterfall. The change of color when it comes around...drops down when you see it from another perspective or another light, when the sunshine is shining bright! Turning to the level of hundreds of colors, sometimes it´s see-through or could be solid like stones - a magical combination that is caught among us.

This is what I see without any expectations on my reactions. Just be, inhale the substance of the situation, undress the layers that each human puts on to conduct oneself in a specific manner. I exposed my fear and also my care. I exposed my respect to the viewers that surround me but also admiration to the ones I am focused.

Then suddenly, from nowhere, a man came up to me, handed me a green piece of paper. Couldn't see his face only the light pink shirt that flew away....and disappeared with a blur.

On the green paper it was written:

"To the unknown female the other side of Marina. Even more, that in the truncated wonder of viewers, the one we´ve come to view is not the only. Although solace seems impossible in that chair, is there not solace as well across the square? Someone whispers what type of art, some breath carts its incapable words into sigth for the aside. Yet there is luminosity or what it feels like to say luminosity while having it whole in relgase. Marina the other women there is young and poised to lightly strike the room down. Even beauty or again, what it mean to say such words cannot figure her in. Yet I´m writing this, She is writing as well, smooth hair from a distance, fall in a slight undertone. The same rustle and ... of her leather jacket. Long legs in a lean which allure careens. Marina, today my eyes went away and were renewed. Yet this is a passing note, a look unlost" T.F. Dorholt 5/17/10

I read it twice, embraced by the note, brought together by art. Marina, thank you for an experience beyond control of humans feelings and circumstances, and thank you to the mystical man in the pink shirt for making life even more unexpected and fun - to live, to be open to the things around.

The Red Soul

My mind is dead, like my soul is red forgetting about the sleep, making a deep scar in the dream, can't really heal, the sound of the existence is too narrow, too close to ignore, observing instead, and letting time fly by, forcing the body to move on, follow the flow, climbing in trees, hiding behind doors, in a corner or on the floor, shouting out loud, while the ego sings, sings, sings, through everything, just hanging in there, a little fake, walking a marathon without a break, high on life, can't stop go, gonna continue until I drop!

The Ones Around - Anna de Rijk

Next up in The Ones Around is my other roomie, Anna. Her coral blue eyes touch onto stones, making them melt, like butter in the sun. Those eyes made both Chanel and Dior fall in love.

The Ones Around - Caroline Källbäck

The third vitality in the ones around is Caroline, because of her enormous joy for life. She could be in a hurricane and like a flower inhale the emotions, and transform it to energy. Where ever she goes she sees beauty.

The Ones Around - Sara Blomqvist

The second personality in The Ones Around is my dear roomie, Sara Blomqvist. Because she got her tattoo "Frank", without really considering it. Spontaneous as she is, she decided on a tattoo while she had a coffee with some friends of hers. After that coffee, they all went to a tattoo studio, and suddenly little "Frank" was born on the side of Sara's chest.

Hanne Gaby is the first one out in the portrait series, The Ones Around, because she owns a Mercedez-Benz without having a driver license.

The Jet Lagged Girl

Walking behind a jet lagged girl, who's changing direction in confusion. Want to tell her to make up her mind, choose a place and go there, or walk without a goal, but please don't go back and forth and then feel like hell, because you wasted your time at nothing but your confused mind! I'm leaving her in the shit, crying angels walking over her, they try so hard to guide her, but she resists. Her narrow-minded eyes are close to walk into a pole, head heavy hanging over her body like a sack of rise, her hands are stiff and white, her feet flying her and there, in a spaghetti-way of playing around, with a lot of sound, her heels is knocking the ground, I think the devil loves the sound....

Crystal Renn

I met Crystal in Saint Tropez. We had interesting conversations about life, dreams, zodiac signs and fashion. Her energy and open-mindedness captivated me. She inspires with stories about her life. Her experiences as a starving size zero model, and the change to a healthy, happy plus model is a promising story. Her opinion about the women and the beauty ideal in the fashion industry is, that it should capture all body sizes. Both naturally thin, curvy and thick. She is fighting for girls with eating disorders, to change the concept in the fashion business to a healthier ideal. Besides modeling, she wrote a book about her like and experiences, "Hungry: A Young Model's Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves".
Crystal is one of the ideal women, with a big heart, beauty, brains and body.

Chanel Party - St. Tropez

Individually we made the party, but together we made the party thrown in heaven. Karl Lagerfeld, the man with grace is walking across the yard, behind his sunglasses is another world staring at existence and turn it into his own imagination. Absorbing what´s around without fear and boundaries, throw the details down into his library. Remakes it, twists and turns it, to another level of existence. Then the girl, with some champagne in her body, releases her boundaries into freedom of movement, letting the music throw her body in action. While the other ones float around, killing themselves in stilettos, sing along to a rad song, flying from side to side while a dress is turning wild. A bunch of others laying in a group turning heads like a fucking loop, shines as gold, laughter out loud, let the cake touch the mouth, while the bass is framing movements, collaborate with the atmosphere that we all together make, relaxes the way of thinking, throws us all in the unlimited command. Individuals together is the strongest example of happiness.

Nightmare From A Square

Stuck in an invisible square, some hours of nothing to fare, then it's catching up, throwing me down into the dark, lying there, chuckling or screaming, don't know anymore. Black or white, can't see what it's all about, just a nightmare.

Black Nexxus update

A short summary from the class at Black Nexxus:

Went into the theater room where the class was going to be. We were an international little group, people from Spain, Holland, Ukraine were participating. All different kinds of personalities were around.

It started with the "I'm aware of" exercise - each of us explained what we were aware of in that moment.

Then we continued with the circle - while one person is in the middle creating a character, the people around have to impersonate the actions that the leading character is making. The exercise releases the tension in the group and makes people explore their personal limit.

Then we went over to the personalization. The aim is to visualize strong memories, and in detail describe them in your head.

In the end we had 30 min to adapt and absorb a monologue, and be one with the character.

With a smile on my face and a mentally and physically exhausted body, I went out happy to have explored one of NYC's leading method acting studios.

Saint Tropez

Heading over to the South of France tonight, St. Tropez.
Excited for the landscape and the atmosphere there.
Never been so my eyes are gonna be wide open.

Black Nexxus

Today I'm trying out the Black Nexxus acting class.

Self-Portrait 5

A bathroom with a lighting from a window from the roof.
I see the strenght in my neck, the pain is there, my shoulders are released from each other.
My hair is just following the flow, in the movement that the camera missed to capture.
The body went it's own way, it's a living machine, sometimes it's way beyond control.

Living In A Dream

"Sometimes I feel like a motherless child. A long way from home."
Living in a dream, with a long black dress, without shoes.
Standing on the grass with my mind, far away from the place I'm at.
Past and future do not exist. Only the dream.

Breakfast

The best breakfast is a green juice with kale, celery, spinach, apple, ginger and pineapple.
Caroline and I are heading out into the sunshine for a green juice and an Oslo coffee.

Self-Portrait 3

One of those days when I need my own space.
During the next week, I'm uploading self-portraits to explore my own art,
with a reflection from the day.

Botanic Garden

Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Every plant has their unique way of growing, they make choices, and their instincts follow the light to heaven. But to reach high to the light, they have to be grounded. The roots are digging deeper and deeper down to the ground, to get the nutrition from the earth. The older they get, the deeper they root, the bigger they grow. Plants are balanced, takes and gives from both heaven and earth, from the light and the dark.

Plants are all about balance. We should learn from them!

Self-Portrait 2

I caught myself after the Harry Josh Spring Fling party at the Hiro Ballroom.
After a crazy night, with dancing, mingling, bowling and a damn hardcore charade.
I went home all alone, tired as a hiding shadow.

Inspiring Books

A quote from "Truth" by Susan Batson:
"Acting is a craft - a disciplined art form that uses everything that makes an individual artist unique, from the DNA up. When you can find the joy of using the good, the bad, the ugly, the evil, and the sublime in yourself to create a scripted character, you're on the way to expertly practicing this craft. The more you're willing to share the events and sensations that have made you who you are, the better an artist you will be. The more willing you are to tell the truth, the stronger an actor you will be."

On Stage

Gonna watch the Creditors tonight...

Creditors - 2010 Spring Season

Apr 16—May 16
Tue—Sat at 7:30pm
Sun at 3pm

Presented by BAM and Donmar Warehouse

By August Strindberg
In a new version by David Greig
Directed by Alan Rickman

"Thrilling... you're likely to feel you've had the breath knocked out of you." —The New York Times

"A roller-coaster of sex, lies and revenge." —Time Out New York

“These are A-list performances, pulsating with pain and hard as diamonds.” —The Times (UK)

Directed by Alan Rickman, this fiercely modern battle of the sexes comes to BAM following a sold-out run at London’s Donmar Warehouse (RED, Jude Law’s Hamlet, Frost/Nixon). A darkly comic tale of vengeance, jealousy, and psychological warfare, Creditors unfolds as a young husband (Tom Burke, in his New York debut), anxiously awaiting the return of his new wife (Olivier Award-nominee Anna Chancellor), falls under the sway of a mysterious stranger (Tony Award-winner Owen Teale).

Self-Portrait

Paolo Roversi once told me that I should take portraits of myself to explore being in front of the camera, but at the same time behind. I will explore it....
